after henry hudson
Waskaganish, Canada and the surrounding area where Henry Hudson's crew mutinied 400 years ago. Hudson, the famed British explorer after whom the Hudson River and Hudson Bay are named, was leading his fourth and final expedition to find the Northwest Passage across North America. In June of 1611, after spending a winter stuck in the ice in James Bay, Hudson wanted to continue exploring. His crew felt differently and sent Hudson, his son and seven others adrift in a small boat and returned to England. Nobody knows for sure what happened to Henry. Some say he died. Others say he made it to shore and lived out his days around Waskaganish....
