The home of the US auto industry, Detroit has been hard hit by the economic downturn of 2008-2009. The city that once symbolized American ingenuity and success has become an emblem of failed capitalism, greed and corruption. With an unemployment rate nearing 20%, many have left Detroit. The resulting urban landscape, sparsely populated, running on empty, form a portrait of the melancholic city and those who struggle to survive there
